Class of 2013 - Maria!

Maria is graduating with the class of 2013!  We had a lot of fun at the River taking the outdoor portion of her senior portrait session.

It is always fun getting to know the kids, talking about their dreams for the future and their plans for after high school.

"Honestly, I didn't even want senior pictures.  Now that I got them done it was the best day of my senior year".

Maria

For most of the seniors we photograph, they are the first professional portraits they have had taken.  It is such a great time for this, high school seniors are at a special high point in their lives.  They are soon to be adults, going out into the world to further their education or enter the job market.  Physically, I think all high school seniors are beautiful!  They haven't developed wrinkles or gray hair yet!  They are adult but retain that touch of innocence we all lose at some point! What better time to have a professional portrait created?

Thanks Maria!  We wish you all the luck and happiness in the world!  Congratulations!

Family Portraiture

At Camera Works Photography we photograph a lot of families.  Many are clients who return to us on a regular basis.  They like to update the portrait they have hanging on their wall.  For these families, having a professional portrait portraying their family at different stages is important.  Many include their family pets in the portrait.  Many include the grandparents, and often we have multigenerational family portraits with 3, 4 and 5 generations represented.

We counsel our clients on clothing for their portraits.  It doesn't sound important, but the clothing in a family portrait can make a huge difference.  Imagine one of the people above wearing a red shirt?  Where do you think your eye would head first?  So if everyone has on similar colors, the faces become more prominent, that is where the eye goes when you view the portrait.

3 generations plus the pets!

Posing is also super important in family portraits.  When you are working with people of all different sizes and

shapes, and also adding in a small child, special attention needs to be taken to make sure everyone is clearly

visible in the portrait.

It's easy to just line people up and take photos.  It takes practice and study to understand how to place bodies

together.  Craig has studied classical portraiture and posing and takes great pains to make sure everyone looks

good in your family portrait.

When you have adults, children AND pets, it gets even more challenging!

Trust your family portrait to a true professional....Camera Works Photography!

Babies, Babies, Babies!

We have been so fortunate to photograph some of the cutest babies in the tri-state area over the last couple of months.  Here are just a few samples!

Holiday babies are such fun!  We love thinking of new ways to pose them in props from the season.  A baby is the best thing to give thanks for!

Little Collin has a big brother Conner who we have been photographing since he was born!  When we do a shoot for a sibling we always like to click a couple of casual shots of the siblings together.  This helps to let the big brother know he is still one of our special little people!

With lots of our dads, sports are a big interest.  It's always a challenge finding ways to pose a tiny baby with sports equipment!

Gavin will be a GREAT Broncos fan!

And you can tell little miss Riley will be cheering for the Bears soon!  Look at that sweet little smile!

Look for some more baby pics soon :)  We have been busy with lots of new little guys!!

Cute Kitty Models!

Here it is....2013 and I have been really remiss in my blogging!  We have been so busy with all kinds of photography!  Yesterday we photographed two of the sweetest cats!  Yes, cats!  They are such a challenge but these guys were really good.  Grey Boy is the older more mature one, and Chewy is the 5 month old crazy guy!  They actually are used to walking with harnesses and a leash!  Their "mom" is amazing!  She has them about as trained as you can get a cat!  Thanks so much Cheryl for sharing your furry kids with us :)

Little Angels!

Baby Hugh's mom brought in some angel wings for his shoot and we were able to get this adorable shot of him.  All babies should be photographed with wings - they are all little angels!

Had to include another little guy looking just as angelic but without the wings!

Love these little angels!

Beautiful Lauren!

Beautiful Lauren is Polly's daughter and a high school senior.  She was sweet to model for some Hollywood Glamour Style photographs in addition to her senior portraits.  Studio lighting can create some really dramatic images.   We are so fortunate to have a fully equipt studio with ceiling mounted lights and lots and lots of backgrounds.  Many photographers today that dub themselves professionals have never worked with studio lighting.  It is a craft that is rapidly being lost.  So glad Craig has had so many years of schooling and experience that we can offer this fantastic option to all of out clients.  Thanks Lauren for being our model!  You are a STAR!!!!

    Lauren the Starlet.........

But in real life she's a beautiful high school senior!

And still a fan of Hello Kitty!
